Makes:
1/4 gallon
Prep Time:
Cooking Time:
Zero
Ingredients:
- 1 cup organic raw nut
- 2 Medjool dates, pitted (optional for sweetness)
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 3 cups water
Instructions:
Add the nuts to a mason jar and cover them with filtered water.
Let it hydrate overnight. Change the water twice during this time.
Add 3 cups of water to another mason jar. Add the dates to it and let it hydrate at room temperature for 2 hours or so.
After the date is soft, add it to a blender with the water.
Add the drained, hydrated nut to the blender and mix well – for 1 to 2 minutes.
Use a fine mesh strainer or a cheesecloth to remove the solids.
Save the pulp to use in another recipe (for example the Healthy Brownie or any of my Waffles)
Enjoy!
P.S.: I’ve tried almonds and cashews with this recipe, and both turned out really good.
You can also make a cream out of the cashews using less water in the preparation.
Remember that homemade milk does not contain any preservatives so plan to use your nut milk within 5 – 6 days.
